Are kayak drain plugs universal?
If you are someone who goes kayaking regularly and owns your own kayak then you really need to have kayak plugs. These plugs ensure that your kayak remains sealed so water doesn’t seep inside. They fit in perfectly and most have a universal fit which ensures that they can be used on many different kayak models.
They actually release water that could into your craft via waves or sloppy paddling, so they are helping to keep you afloat. Don’t worry, these holes at the bottom of your boat won’t leave you sunk. Most kayaks will have about four scupper holes as this is thought to be the safest amount.
Do you take bungs out of kayak?
Scupper Bungs (also known as Scupper Plugs) are used to block the scupper drainage holes in a sit-on-top kayak. The Feel Free Scupper bungs come in pairs and fit all Feelfree kayaks. Opening the top/lid removes any unwanted water from the kayak with out having to remove all the scupper from the kayak.
Are all scupper holes the same size?
Yes and No. Scupper holes come in different sizes and shapes. The holes in some kayaks are all the same size and other kayaks have scupper holes that vary in size and shape. When buying a universal plug, look for a plug with the proper fit for your scupper holes.
